Tom was busy out in the south of France last week recording his new EP at Neil Conti’s superb MiniMoon studio in Montpellier.
Tom and the band, consisting of former members of David Bowie and Van Morrisson’s bands, laid down four brand new tracks over the course of a week.
This included a live string section on two of the songs: She Kissed Me and Summer In Bloom.
Tom will be returning in two weeks time to mix the EP and hopes that it hits the national airwaves sometime around the end of March.
Tom is pleased to announce that he is to record his next EP with former Prefab Spout/David Bowie drummer Neil Conti at his studio Minimoon, in Montpellier, south of France this January.
Tom will be recording four brand new tracks alongside Neil and some top musicians, including members of Van Morrison’s band, and is looking at a March 2014 release date.
Tom said “I’m really looking forward to getting out there and recording in a new studio and working in a different way that I’m used to. Me and Neil haver spoken at length about recording and he has got some great ideas for the record: I like his work ethic and the studio’s ethos for producing records, especially that they’re really keen on using analogue to mix down too to get that really warm sound.”
"It’ll be great to work with someone with as much industry experience as Neil has. He’s done some big things in his career - drumming for Bowie at Live Aid and on some of his records, as well playing for Mick Jagger and Annie Lennox amongst others (the list is massive!) He’s also just played on some tracks on James Blunt’s new album too. It’s going to be a bit of an honour for me to have Neil play alongside side me actually because Prefab Sprout are one of the bands I cherish most and his drumming is just killer, especially on the Steve McQueen album."
I really like the what Neil and his engineer Jeff have produced at his studio, especially the sublime album by For Emma, and liked the feel of the place when I visited it back in September. It’s going to be good fun, I’m sure.”
